I have been traveling for work today. I often look forward to work trips, but this time, I’m a little anxious about the whole thing. It’s not because of the work I’ll be doing, instead I’ve recently had some setbacks with my health and I’d much rather be taking the time to heal. I have to go, it’s part of my job, so I’m trying to make the most of the situation, using this trip as an opportunity to exercise boundaries when necessary and take things moment by moment.
Last night as I was packing I kept trying to think of mantra that would help calm my nerves for the trip. Out of nowhere “Aad Guray Nameh, Jugaad Guray Nameh…” popped into my head and I knew it was the perfect choice. This is a Kundalini mantra for protection and invokes the protective energy of the universe. Yogi Bhajan said “when you cannot be protected, this mantra shall protect you. When things stop, and won’t move, this makes them move in your direction.” This mantra should be chanted at least three times in succession from a comfortable seated position.
Jugaad Guray Nameh
Sat Guray Nameh
Siri Guru Dayvay Nameh
I bow to the Wisdom through the Ages.
I bow to the True Wisdom.
I bow to the great, unseen Wisdom
My favorite recording of this mantra is from Snatam Kaur (see video below). It’s slow, rhythmic and enchanting.
Good news! Even with a three hour delay and very turbulent flight, I made it safe and sound to my destination.Whenever I felt the nerves begin to rise, I came back to my breath and this mantra and was safely carried through.
Listen and enjoy for yourself!
