I had the unique opportunity to sub a Kundalini yoga class last night. And not just any Kundalini class, but a Kundalini & Gong class. It was amazing! If you haven’t tried Kundalini yoga yet, I suggest you do. It’s a super powerful way to get the prana moving. I also highly suggest a gong bath if you have the opportunity. The mystical tones of the gong will leave you vibrating for hours! Because of this experience, I was inspired to set this month’s Mantra of the Month as Sat Nam.
Sat Nam is commonly used in the Kundalini yoga practice and is typically chanted at the end of class. It is also used in salutation, the same way you may use namaste. Sat translates to Truth and Nam translates to Name or Identity. Together, this mantra means Truth is my Identity. Truth in this sense speaks to the infinite truth or divinity that resides in each one of us. It is said that chanting Sat Nam invokes divine consciousness. The pure vibration of this mantra links us to our true identity–our divine soul.
When you look upon others, you look upon yourself. When you look upon yourself, you connect with the divine light within, the truth of your existence and the infinite spirit. Practice this mantra and seek your true nature.
