So far, so good! I’ve made it to my meditation seat every day and have stayed for 31 minutes. The only change is that after the first two days I found that I needed to modify the practice. It seems that 31 minutes straight of the Guru Gaitree mantra is too powerful for me and I spent the first three days of my meditation completely nauseous, exhausted and dealing with some other nasty physical manifestations.
It is possible that the two are not related, but I didn’t want to take the chance and have decided to do 11 minutes of the mantra followed by 20 minutes of meditation, rather than 31 minutes straight of chanting. Considering that I am still coming to my seat every day for 40 days, I feel that I will still get the benefits from this practice.
Low and behold, wouldn’t you know, as soon as I made the switch to the 11/20 practice, I started to feel better physically…lighter…happier. Listening to my Self was key and I know I’ve made the best decision for me. Otherwise, it’s quite possible I’d give up all together and well, that’s not really the goal, right?
Onwards and upwards!
